Dr. Jennifer
Dr. Jennifer Powers Maples

Veterinarian

Graduated with Phi Zeta Honors from UC Davis in 1995. Completed certification for Veterinary Acupuncture in 1997. Extensive Advanced Equine Dental Training completed in 1997, including intra-oral extractions, periodontics, and crown restoration. Dr. Jen enjoys camping, riding, kayaking, traveling, and spending quality time with her son and husband and an adorable pack of pets.

Veterinarian

Dr. Kayla graduated from Auburn University in 2017. She is a close friend of Dr. Jen’s and was her mentee for over a decade prior to graduating from Vet School. She is well known for her compassion and dedication to our clients. She recently became engaged to her high school Sweetheart, and wedding plans are in the near future!

Her spare time is typically spent with her animals. She enjoys riding (her horse “Speedie” is pictured), camping, hiking, and traveling. She loves all dogs but especially loves Great Danes. Her Great Dane “Hugo” is a celebrity amongst our clients.

Nicole, who we call “Nic,” has been in the Veterinary field for years. She is highly experienced in the care of many species. The knowledge that she has acquired over the years working in Veterinary Hospitals has helped make her a key asset to our team. She has been a part of our staff since 2021. Nic and her family have many pets of different kinds, and we love to hear stories about them all, especially about her flock of chickens!

Dana has been a client since she was 3 years old! She and her family were essential in helping Dr. Jen remodel our current location prior to opening. During her High School years, she started as an intern and worked her way up into a permanent staff member in 2016. Dana is very experienced in assisting in surgical and anesthetic dental procedures. She is also an expert with our Laboratory analyzers as well as being an Emergency Technician on the weekends. She and her husband live nearby, and she spends her spare time baking and enjoying her dogs and horses.

Equine Dental Assistant

Kim is our Equine Dental Technician. She replaced Nancie Avila in June of 2020. Kim has undergone extensive training to equilibrate (aka float) equine teeth and performs dentistry 2-3 days a week. Horses are her passion, but she also has extensive experience in cattle wrangling and ranching. She is an avid horsewoman and loves to spend time outdoors riding horses with her dogs running alongside her.

Mariana joined our team in November 2022 as a Customer Service Representative. She has extensive agriculture experience and is excited to apply what she already knows toward a career in Veterinary Medicine. She has worked in the dairy industry as well as the Swine industry. While at work, she loves learning more each day. Outside of the hospital, she spends her time hiking and spending quality time with friends and family.

Emily started working with us recently in 2022. Her enthusiasm for our clientele shines through in everything she does. She truly puts our clients and patients first. She is a very active individual and enjoys hiking and working out in her free time.

Kennel Assistant

Chelsea joined our team in June 2022. As our Kennel Assistant, she dedicates herself to our surgical and hospitalized patients, ensuring they have the best care while staying at our hospital. She has lots of horse experience between owning her own (2 horses) and in the Equine Program at Feather River College. While at work she loves learning more each day about various animals. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys horseback riding, painting, hiking, and spending quality time with her English bulldog named Daisy.
